Daily Routine
Now that I have come home... I am free of nurses, doctors, injections and the like. But then, the flip side is that I am stuck with Mom and Dad all the time. Of course, there are Granny and Granpa too. Hold on, let me tell you something that I have been asked to do. In my home, Mommy becomes Amma. Daddy becomes Nanna. Granny becomes Ammamma. Granpa becomes Tata. So, the characters haven't changed, only the way I call them has.
Where was I? Yeah, so I am home with Amma, Nanna, Ammamma and Tata. But Amma being as protective as she is, wouldn't let Ammamma handle me enough. And Tata being who he is, is relegated to being the standby-support person - the one who holds me when Amma is having a bath, Nanna is in office and Ammamma is busy in the kitchen.
So bottom-line? I am with Amma most of the time. For those of you who are asking me if I wouldn't get bored spending all day with only one person, here is my answer. I found a way around that. I sleep. Yes, you heard me right. I sleep for a very long time.
Did I tell you that when I was born, my doctor said that I had a little jaundice? So he told Amma that I should be exposed to the sun for a few minutes every day. So what happens? Sun-watching became a very important part of my routine. Every morning, as soon as the sun rises (which is pretty early in Chicago), I am whisked away from my cozy bed and laid down someplace where there are a lot of sun rays.

Of course, once I am woken up, it does not mean that I stay awake :-) There are only two things that keep me awake. An empty stomach and a full diaper :-)
I need to be fed every 2 hours, 3 hours at the most. No uncle, I am not a glutton :( It is just that my tummy is soooo small that I need to be fed every so often. I am just 12 days old (which Nanna says is about 300 hrs). So getting fed every 2-3 hrs is sort of comparable to you eating every 4-6 days. You would be hungry if you go so long without food, wouldn't you?
And then the diapers. Just like the car seat, the diapers are a wonderful invention for the convenience of parents. I bet kids don't like it. Just imagine sleeping in your pee-pee or your poo-poo, even if for a short time. I can't wait for the time when I get potty-trained and can go to the loo myself without needing a diaper.
So those are the 2 things that I can't stand. Since Amma and Nanna do not speak my language, how do I communicate? I cry. Actually, I wail. Because that seem to be the only way I can get their attention.
There is a third thing I can't stand. Just between us, it is Nanna's cooing. I belive none of you had the opportunity to hear Nanna coo, but believe me - it's hilarious. The first time Nanna cooed, I couldn't stop smiling. But that seemed to encourage him further into believing that I like the cooing. But how do I tell him that I do NOT like him cooing or even worse, singing! Don't tell him that :-)

So very glad to hear details of your routine and how your mom helped you out. Welcome!! Hope to see you soon with your cousin Nithya.
I kind of understand what you said about your Nanna's singing! Poor baby!! You see, it's just competitiveness, since he married into a musical family - he wants to sing too. Keep kicking him hard, hopefully he'll get the message soon!!
Nithya adds that she knows what you mean about full diapers.

This is Kanna Mamayya (and Lalitha Atha, Karthik & Kiran). Who's this???. Yah this is what I'm known to all near & dear (my nick name) and since ur a spl. lil doll, u can call me that way. Or u can just call me KM as my other niece/nephews do.
Actually, I want to complain about ur Dad.....that he did not tell me about this place where I can know so much of u. May be he was / is too busy engrossed with u 24H a day. And even ur Atha has not mentioned about this, altho' was seen smiling a lot during the last few days sitting in front of the laptop.
Anyway, let's start off on a good note and be GOOD FRIENDS. Will catch u again soon. Happy sleeping. Just dont worry abt anything. Cheers,
KM
You would be wondering who I am. My name is Gayathri and I am your senior by two years. I stay in bangalore, the place where your parents used to stay prior to their moving off to the US. My nanna's name is also Raghu, the only change being Raghunath. And my nanna , your nanna have lots of things in common, both of them attended the same college, were staying in Vizag, are from the same branch of engg, and are now working in the same company. I am now free of diapers, dont drink just milk any longer, run arnd as much as i want, and have been so good to relieve my mummy and nanna of the toddler hazzles. But you need to wait for two long year to achieve all the feats that i am now doing. And dont get excited, i make sure to keep my mom worried even now by going off with anyone who will take me out for Tata, and refusing to eat anything that she gives me. The moment she takes a pen out to write something, i make sure she gives me one too. And the moment the door is opened, i kinda feel she shud go in for the 100 mts race, she would excel and get a gold medel in olympics for that :) And all the while that shes been typing out these things to you, I am making sure that my typing is as well included in this, afterall you are my little friend, and we both are June born. Infact nanna's another friend, Madhav uncle also has a June born child. And there are lots to tell you, as you progress thru your days. Keep chking now onwards whom u like the best at home, so that very soon, in one more week, you can give them the first smile of your life.....And you know, these parents! are gonna get excited at every little movement from us; including our ooh-aah's, smiles, uuummmms etc. Afterall, my mom keeps telling me "mere ghar aayi ek nanhi pari" and ur amma and nanna feel the same way too. And as u grow older, i am going to teach you all sort of wonderful things to keep them busy always, just as i keep my mother very very busy. Well, this is my letter, but mummy and nanna are pleading with me to pass on their love, and hugs and kisses to u..Ok, mom, and nanna, ur wish granted. Have a great time Lasya :)
